Every car guy has a need for garage space for their cars. Whether its a collector car, a family car, or your first car, the need to work on or store your vehicle has grown in the last ten to twenty years. In the 1950’s and 1960’s a one car garage was the norm. Now the builders are building three and four car garages and sometimes more.
As more of us work from home, we have a need to get away from work. What better way to do that then to have a “man-cave“. Wikipedia’s definition of man-cave is: A man cave or man-space, and less commonly a man-land or mantuary is a male retreat sanctuary in a home, such as a specially equipped garage, spare bedroom, media room , den, or basement. The term “man cave” is a metaphor describing a room where a “guy can do as they please”, without fear of upsetting any female sensibility about house decor or design.
Historically, men have decorated their garage space in sports themes, lots of TV’s, kegerator with taps, posters, etc. Flooring has made an impact on garage spaces in the last decade too. Epoxy, paint, tiles, rubber mats, and many other designs can help the “man-land”.
Socializing in the garage is a pass time of many homeowners. Many football party have been thrown in the garage, especially during the fall when the weather is ideal. Built in cabinets serve as places for food while TV’s project the game.
